Acceleration plan | Field Labs Evidence-informed & effectiveness of educational innovations
Want to get started with innovation within your institution? The Evidence-informed educational innovation with ICT zone and the Digital education in practical skills working group have worked together to develop two field labs that will support you in doing so.
Both field labs overlap in knowledge and are complementary; they are successive phases in educational innovation and development. The work package is a collection including: a manual, meetings, examples and dissemination tips.Â
Game
Besides the field labs, a game has also been developed to support you in developing evidence-informed educational innovation with ICT. Developing good education and measuring the effect is complicated and requires a lot from educational developers. By playing this game, you will find out why it is important to use evidence (supporting documents) when developing educational innovation in order to avoid bias (own preference).
Download the full work package of the living labs and the accompanying game below.
The first field lab consists of three sessions in which you work on shaping educational innovation within your own institution. Attention is paid to orientation on the desire for improvement, data analysis, answering the hypothesis(s) and drawing up an evidence-informed improvement plan. Finally, you apply the innovation in practice.
The second field lab consists of two sessions, in which you critically examine the effectiveness of the educational innovation. This field lab can be used as a supplement to the first field lab or stand-alone. Monitoring and (orientation on) evaluation are central in this field lab. In addition, you discuss the results and share them within your institution.
The target group for these field labs is broad. Educational advisers, teacher trainers and quality assurance staff can make use of the field labs, but both labs are also valuable for teachers.
The meetings of both field labs can take place fortnightly. The time between the two courses will be determined according to the planning of educational innovations.
Both field labs consist of a ready-made programme that allows you to take the first steps in innovation together with your colleagues. The accompanying game will give you an insight into the importance of evidence-informed innovation in education with ICT.
Work package part one consists of a short introduction and instruction to get started with both living labs
In part two of the work package, you will find a preparation module with a number of examples, ‘Modelling examples’, of educational innovation.
Play the game “How come these students are failing?” and find out why it is important to use evidence (supporting documents) when developing educational innovations with ICT. Find the game instruction below.
