How mature is your institution in terms of data? This can be determined with the Quickscan for Education data, a joint project of the zone Secure and reliable use of education data and the data supported education team of the programme ‘Doorpakken op digitalisering’, our counterpart in intermediate education. In September 2022, the corresponding user manual was launched and the quick scan improved.
Available in two languages
The Quickscan Education Data is available in two languages, Dutch and English. If you are working with a team on the quick scan, agree in advance which language you will use. The results will then appear in a joint overview. You can find the Dutch version here.
The aim of the Education data zone is to encourage higher education institutions throughout the Netherlands to do more with education data. To do that, it’s important preconditions in various areas in the management and use of education data are well developed. Consider, for example:
It’s important for the institution to develop in each of the five areas mentioned. From small pioneering initiatives, via the department/faculty and institution, to initiatives at the level of the (external) chains.
In the quick scan, the area for which you score lowest determines the level of the institution’s overall development. This is shown in the maturity model we use as a zone. You can find more information about the maturity model here.
Creating awareness about education data within institutions requires more than filling in the quick scan. We developed the Quickscan Education Data User Manual to better map that process. The guide provides background information on the maturity model on which the quick scan is based. It then suggests four steps to make the most of the scan. It also explains how to use the quick scan to analyse your team’s results.
In the quick scan, you answer a number of questions about the five areas. Fill out what the current situation in your institution is, and what the desired situation would be like. The quick scan then gives you an insight into the score of your educational institution compared to the desired situation. This way, you can immediately see which areas require improvement.
